Ladies of Charity

The Ladies of Charity of Holy Sepulcher Parish are organized under the Ladies of Charity of the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  Our purpose is to provide charitable, religious, and educational services to people living within the geographic area of Holy Sepulcher Parish.

Our organization functions like an "umbrella", overseeing committees, which carry out works of charity.

The committees include:

Elizabeth Ministry
The Elizabeth Ministry offers meals and gift baskets to new parents.  They can provide information dealing with family planning, as well as other issues, such as infertility, adoption, upcoming multiple birth, miscarriage, infant loss, breast feeding issues or complicated pregnancy.

Bereavement Ministry
This ministry reaches out to those who have recently lost a loved one.  Members may make visits to the funeral home, say the Rosary before funerals, serve as ushers or bell ringers at funerals.
Every other year, this committee sponsors a "Prepare Ye" seminar, which focuses on end-of-life planning.

Rosary/Funeral Mass
The committee members gather to say the rosary 1/2 hour before each funeral at Holy Sepulcher Church

Giving Tree
Members of this committee organize the annual collection of Christmas gifts for disadvantaged members of our Parish community (residents of nursing homes, personal care homes, children's organizations, pregnant women, newborns, etc.)

Eucharistic Visits/Home Visits/Hospital Visits
These committee members visit and take the Eucharist to sick and home-bound members of our Parish

Colonial Gardens
Members of this committee serve the veterans who are living at the Colonial Gardens personal care home.  They put on an annual luncheon/social day and often provide treats on other special occasions.

Shut-In Baskets
This committee is in charge of organizing and distributing gift baskets to home-bound members of our Parish at Christmas and some remembrance at Easter, such as flowers.

Blood Drive
These committee members plan the annual Holy Sepulcher Blood Drive

Community Dinner
Members of this committee coordinate serving dinner at St. Paul's Church in Butler once a year, for the community meal which is served there.

To Serve Rather Than To Be Served in Humility, Simplicity and Charity

The Association of the Ladies of Charity of Saint Kilian Parish, in the traditional spirit of humility, simplicity, and charity, includes:

• Women of all ages who minister to the spiritual and material needs of those who are ill, elderly or financially stressed.
• Women of all professions, homemakers and retirees who are motivated by the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac to help others.

We invite you to join us in fulfilling the purpose and spirit of the Association of the Ladies of Charity— to imitate our Lord in helping those in need: spiritually, emotionally and materially:

• Prayer Shawls (click here to request a shawl)
• Baptismal Garments
• Eucharist and friendly visits to homebound and nursing centers
• Leading the rosary at nursing centers
• Christmas gifts and Spiritual Bouquets to homebound
• Easter baskets and Spiritual Bouquets to homebound
• Assist at Funeral Masses
• Assist at Anointing & All Souls Day Mass
• Prepare and host Fellowship Dinners
• Contribute to VOICe (Victim Outreach Intervention Center) in Butler County
• Distribute books to promote children's literacy
• Send birthday cards to the homebound
• Pray for special intentions and the unclaimed dead
• To be where there is a need
