History Day

National History Day is a competition that students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades are eligible to participate in, making history come alive. Through researching and producing an entry, students demonstrate an exciting way to study history by expressing what they have learned in a creative original performance, documentary, paper, website or exhibit. Students learn skills and techniques while they discover new insights to a specific theme.

At Holy Sepulcher Catholic School, this competition is not mandatory and is focused on the students who have an interest in history. It is approached like a club, where the students prepare, research, get started and complete a project after school. Students are given an opportunity to work on their projects with adult supervision and guidance; however, some work will have to be completed independently at home.

The students choosing to participate will compete on the regional level at Westminster College, and if they qualify, will advance to the state level and from there, the National Competition in Maryland.
